I’ll meet you on the corner of Charizard and Jigglypuff
Not gonna lie, it's cool, but it's a little awkward to call a date when I live on Pikachu Lane lol.
She'd probably say, "Wait, seriously?"
and I would have to answer: “Pika pika"Maybe because street signs are one of the few trademark categories Nintendo doesn't do business in. Trademark protection isn't absolute. You can have two identical brands in different industries and there's only a trademark problem if the similarities cause confusion. See also Apple Computer vs Apple Records.
Nintendo would have a very hard time explaining to a judge how a random municipal government is hurting Nintendo by having street signs named after Nintendo's IPI didn't think of that. I was just implying that they've been very lawsuit happy in recent years, and The Pokémon Company (separate but still slightly owned by Nintendo) is even more strict than Nintendo themselves.
I'm glad this is protected, but wouldn't be surprised if they didn't at least try a cease and desist.Back in the day they introduced a housing mechanic for the MMO Asheron’s Call and there was a neighborhood named something like “JGhee Widdit” after a popular song by Will Smith. The devs received a lot of complaints about the name, so it was renamed to “Mirthless Dale”.
If they have to rename the streets at any point, I hope they go full on r/maliciouscompliance with it
